Attempting to build my first Desktop for gaming, basically going in blind, i would like some feedback about the parts I found for my computer, also looking for some advice about cases, hard drives and whatever else you feel might be helpful for someone who has never built a computer before, thanks

Few things to consider.
#1, reading my article stickied to the top will help you better understand what I'm about to say.
#2, GPU power over CPU power.
#3, I would get this CPU

Over your current setup due to the fact that it will be faster for gaming, and you don't need a 100 dollar liquid cooler to keep it cool.
That extra money can be used on getting a much better video card like a 660ti.

For case, a good cheap start would be the Corsair 200r.
If you have a fairly decent budget I highly consider getting an SSD. Actually, I wouldn't not get an SSD. You can get for fairly cheap mine, the Corsair Neutron GTX 120GB and back it up with a 500GB or 1TB drive (Seagate 1TB is 79 bucks) for storage or very large programs.
