ok i just built a new pc, and never used windows xp before, always used windows 98. I want to rename a file for example fun.jpg to tempdecal.wad
but windows interprets it into tempdecal.wad.jpg
how do i rename the file AND extension?

Open up my computer/explorer. Then got to the menu that says tools, then to folder options.

Then in that window click the view tab and uncheck the box that says hide file extensions.

Give us a break and end this dumb post.
You can name pic1.jpg to pic2,jpg,but not 1.wad what in hell is the purpose of this ?
There are many ways to do what you seem to think you need to.
So why ?
