So you need about 7 kg of DNA for storage.

In my opinion it depends on the person who uses it. If you want to be secure don't just add people you don't know or don't chat or talk to strangers. If you don't want other people know your secrets or confidential things that you do just don't post it. Before you post something on facebook or let the whole world know about you think many times first. You should be responsible on your actions and think the consequences that might come in the future. You could also enjoy the use of social media like Facebook if you know how to use it carefully.

But can you be sure that all the people you add are nearly as careful as you?

And their friends?

The inherent structure of FB security makes your security dependent of your friends, your friends of friends, and your friends of friends of friends, etc. And so it is flawed.

...which is why, as long as bar private messages you don't put anything on there you don't want other people seeing, you're fine. I never really got the problem - if you're silly enough to plaster personal details and photos you want no-one to see on your friend's wall in the hope that no-one else other than your friend will see it, you've basically got what's coming to you.

Google plus has a much better security model for this sort of thing, though unfortunately hasn't really taken off

10% of all break up's and Divorce's are Facebook's fault. Not the site itself, what people do on it.

If you want to find out info about someone that they dont want to tell you then what better place then Facebook. People put more then they want on there wall, and they don't know it.
