Ive got a Maxtor 200GB external HD and was wondering if its possible to take it out of the casing and use it as a regular HD inside the PC case.
Is this possible and has anyone here done it before? Any help would be appreciated!

Yeah i think it is possible because it still is a normal HD inside. So i think as long as you open up the casing correctly you should be fine. And no i havent done this before, im sure if you google this you will find many guides on hot to go upon doing this.

Yes as long as it has a compatible interface open on the motherboard. Meaning as long as you have a extra IDE Connector Open.

It should work. They just connect the hard drive through IDE or SATA to this PCB which has a logics chip that converts everything to USB or FireWire. It should work fine.

Ok, cheers for the help, i didnt want to go and destroy the external casing only to find that it doesnt work inside my PC.

OK, just something...How about an external CD burner? Will it do the same?

External HDDs would work internal.
