What do you need to clear it for? If you leave it alone you can keep a record of everything that has happens with the current OS.
 
Yes you can clear the Event Viewer. There is no reason why you should keep a record of every event that has occurred on your system since you installed it. Especially if you have had the same install for some time. It only causes more space to be taken by an item that is not fully needed.

The only reason why you should leave the event viewer alone is if you start to experience problems. It is at that point that the Event Viewer will be a great tool in which you can use to diagnose the problem.

At the same time you can clear out the Event Viewer to help you get more accurate data and not have all the data from the past clouding the EV. If you are looking for a specific event that has just occurred then having a full viewer will only cloud the screen with past event.

So it is a toss up. On 1 hand you have nothing to really gain from leaving it, on the other if you clear it and start to have issues you will have to start over trying to figure out what is causing it.
