Hello guys,
I'm new here.
This is not a question about the Internet connection, and I hope this little complex explanation about the issue is clear enough and someone can shed some light on it.
Prelude
I have a small home broadcast studio setup.
An HP ZBOOK G4 connects and controls a Blackmagic Design ATEM Mini Pro video switcher.
The ZBOOK also runs OBS (Open Broadcaster Software)
The ATEM has USB type-C and Ethernet ports.
I use the Ethernet to control the ATEM using Blackmagic's Control Software.
I use the ATEM’s USB type-C port connected to the ZBOOK for Video/Audio streaming input to OBS.
The ethernet connection between the ZBOOK and the ATEM via the router is in perfect working order.
Content files created on an Apple Macbook Pro require transfer with the ZBOOK during video production and live events.
The ZBOOK and The MAC connect to a WiFi router, a D-Link model DIR-853/ET, which is not used as an internet router.
The Mac can only connect to the router via wifi and The ZBOOK is connected via Ethernet and WiFi.
I have set up both computers for file sharing, and they work fine across the wifi connection.
Since I need to access the Mac from ZBOOK to transfer files, it is a conflict if I keep both ethernet and wifi enabled on the ZBOOK connected to the router.
The MacBook Pro runs on macOS Big Sur and the ZBOOK runs on Windows 11 Pro.
I'm assuming all features on the router work as they should because it is only 3 months old and has been working well.
The router is configured for DHCP, and the subnet mask is identical on all nodes.
Accordingly, 192.168.0.n 255.255.255.0 for any connected device.
Here's the issue.
I cannot access the Mac from ZBOOK when connected to the router via Ethernet.
I have to keep the wifi adapter on the ZBOOK switched off when using Ethernet to avoid conflicts.
I should be able to do the file transfers without switching the WiFi on and off on the ZBOOK.
I’m trying all possible settings on the router to get the ethernet port passed on to the wifi port.
I appreciate your help on this.
Thank you guys in advance.
