ECS L7VMM will not shut down

I have a ECS L7VMM 1.0 MoBoard, amd 1.8 1 gig ram, 32 meg nvidia video. XPPro. When i tell pc to shut down it closes windows goes black pauses then starts back up. I was going to reflash bios to 1.1 as it is 1.0a but winflash freezes up. anyone got an idea. software or hardware problem. thanks

Do you know the RAM make and model?

Do you have broadband connection? If so it sounds like you have wake on LAN enabled and when you shut down the NIC is detecting the LAN which will just as it emplies make the computer turn on when it detects the connection.

If the NIC is onboard look in the BIOS, if PCI card probably a jumper setting on the card.
