Dynamic disk inaccessible

So my external hard drive is dynamic and I can't access it. I was wondering if I can go through the command prompt and read it that way and transfer my files through that. I found the command to use, move, but the drive doesn't have a partition name. Like C or D or what have you. So because of this, I'm thinking should I just say screw it and convert it to basic and go oh well good bye files? Or is there some other way I can get my things off the drive? If worst comes to worse then I'll just buy the dynamic disk converter program. See if that works. Any thoughts?
