dvd rom drive help

Hey guys.

I have a DVD Rom Drive that will not read my data dvds.

It shows it fine under Device Manager, and I can eject it by right clicking the drive and selecting eject.

But it won't read my discs. What gives?

Your drive may not be able to read specific brands of disk.
There's DVD-R, DVD-R, etc, low-end drives are unable to read all types of disk.

well.

i had a friend's dvd burner in my computer and it read it fine and stuff, then later that day it wouldnt read it.

i took his out and put in my cd burner and dvd rom drives that came with my computer and it wouldnt read it.

seems like computer problem instead of drives themselves.
