Newer DVD players will support DVD+R, but DVD-R will still work with any upcoming ones, just works with the older ones as well. I use DVD+R.

I use DVD+R too for movie backups. But since I have my external HD, I've been using that, hehe. 250GB worth. I'm just waiting for HD DVDs to become mature so I can get it.

They should both work as long as they are finalised. Although some players will be to play unfinalised discs aswell.

I've used DVD+RW before too and they have to be reformatted on my DVD burner for it to work. Wierd. I never have to do that with Memorex, only with Sony's version. It's great for testing ISO's and it it's a success, you can make it permanent on a DVD+R.
