Only when I there is no table or flat surface to work from.
But I not going to carry and extra stand around with me.

The only one that I have seen that is practical has been the Lapramp

I have seen some really big ones at LASER CO. that I find totally impractical.

No offence, I think latlop stand are unnessary to begin with.

I just use it on my lap. Usually after an hour or two my legs get used to the heat.

The things were designed to lay on your lap...

I wouldn't buy a stand or pad for mine... just another thing to carry around. If i wanted that, i would just lug my desktop around.

I use my laptop on my lap. But at night, i'll just place a hardcover book under the laptop, it's portable and doesn't hurt my lap.
