Digital Noticeboard

I'm crew at a scout camp site, and I've got a plan that I can use an old PC that I've got lying around, attach it up to a 15" monitor and use it as a digital noticeboard. Iis there any software that I can use or would I have to write my own? I'd like the board to be remotely managed by someone who doesn't know much about computers so obviously it will be networked... any ideas?

why not just make a pictrure saying what you want. stick it on slideshow/fullscreen, and leave it.

It needs to be updated 2 times a day, so it would be much easier if you could set it up for the week.
