Dial Up Options ???

I have been using XP Pro for about 12 months now and I've not had a problem until now that is. Whenever I click on either the Intenet Explorer or Outlook Express icons, I never get the option to "Dial Up Connection" option. Maybe I've changed the settings somehow as I always had this option before. The only way I can get online now is via the control panel and network connections. Does anybody have any suggestions as to how to get the settings back to how they was? All advise would be greatly appreciated.

control panel > internet options > connections

choose your default connection, then select the "always dial my default connection" radial.
