So I had my motherboard on my XPS M1210 replaced a while back, under warranty. At the time I had a SigmaTel card, which worked wonderfully. I didn't find out until recently (when I tried to update the driver) that when they replaced my motherboard, they also replaced my sound card with a different one. Since then, my recording programs (Audacity and Kristal) have been unable to detect an input device. When I open up the mixer, I can see that Windows is detecting an input signal, so it's there, but I don't know how to make my programs see it. I'm at a loss here....

Thanks in advance for any help.

control panel > sounds > recording devices ... is the mic / soundcard set as default?

Do you get any sound at all? Or is it just those programs? You could try to roll back the driver to a earlier version if the new version does not work.
