Total: $3090.46 + the cost of x900,crossfire board and Iram in future

Get the 6600gt and the ultra-d and hold out for the x900s and a crossfire enabled board, they're looking good.
don't get raptors, just hold out for the new Iram cards.
tried to save you some $ with smaller HDDs, cheaper sound card, cheaper speakers and a regular PSU not an expensive PC&C but there are better if you want

Oh, and this is a decent case but just doesn't have the same amount of fans http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811112511
i would reccomend replacing fans with 2 of these if you got it:

sorry to keep editing, but get a fan controller too, i can imagine these babys running at the full 96cfm...

For my AMD set up, i think i'm gonna so with something similar to what Gage posted above. Today i'm gonna be goin out and seeing what computer store has what and/or ordering which not, so i have to decide on what im doin here.

I think i'm gonna try to hold out on the Vid card to see how prices alter within the next little bit since i don't plan on rushing this machine. Also, i can't decide on a CPU... The one above i'm a little sketchy about. But that could be because i know nothing about AMD

Anyway, i think i'm gonna order my hard drives today or the motherboard seeing that i dont wanna order everything up front as of now.

My minor question is: should i go with the MOBO posted above and should i go with the hard drives? The original plan was to go with Raptors but the Caviars seem to be recommended on TF. All this time here and i still have yet to figure it why?

Well, thanx all.

Cheers-

Ocing or no?
If your Ocing, gettign the fx-55 won't be worth it. Spend less on the venice 3500+ or the sandiego 3700+. You'll save 500 dollars.

No expense spared there... :p :p :p

I think that you might as well go with a SLI board from DFI, as you will get 2 PCIE slots anyway, and than you could get another card to go in with it, if you feel the need for it.

You have 2 PSU's on that list.

Enjoy having THE best. :p :p All it needs now is a overclock. - Are you going to get a aftermarket heatsink?

(I found a new way of opening a new tab on firefox, wheel click :p )

The Purpose of this computer was to pretty much get an AMD top of the line gaming machine :p

What Chip do you recommend then?

Which DFI board are you talkin about there Trifid?

I do plan on OCing and putting a new heatsink on 'er.

Cheers-

The SLI-d/SLI-DR are SLI boards, where as that one, just has 2 PCI express slots.

The fx-55 can get 2.8-2.9 ghz on air. THe 3700 can get 2.7-2.8 on air. So get the 3700. Your buying expensive ram, so theres no need to use the multiplier options that fx-55 gives you.

There is no point in puting that much money into the processor, get an AMD FX-53 and OC it or just go with a 4000+ San Diego and OC it. Save you a but load of money. The only difference between the 4000+ San Diego and FX-53 is unlocked multiplyers.

SLI-DR is what I have and I am running two 6800GTs in SLI mode, if your going for the best get the best. I like it, fast and never bog down, a bit of overkill but if you want the best thats really it.
