ddr 333 vs ddr 400

I currently have a AMD 3000+ winchester (S939) and i believe that if i add another gig of ram (bringing total to 2gb) then it will be downclocked to ddr333. Is this true.

If it is, is 2Gb ram at ddr333 better than 1Gb at ddr400?

why would it be downclocked? does your mobo not support 2gb ram?

If you 4 X 512mb, there is a good chance that your motherboard will downclock the ram to ddr333.

4 sticks, than yes it will. Just put it back to 400mhz. If it is unstable return it to 333.

The increase in performance out weighs the very little loss in having slower RAM on a AMD64 platform.
