Yeh but with sp2 you can unblock them from the sites that you want them from. Also, I use the one that comes with mcafee internet secrity cus the one with sp2 still lets them through.

Actually, If you upgrade to SP2 it turns off
the messenger service for you.

There's a thought. If you could post a thread on how to install it properly I think that would be a big help. Or maybe how to get and use Sandman's simpleslipper.

Well since my Windows XP Pro came with Service Pack 2, it didn't do anything to my system. When I tried using the 'Shoot the Messenger' thing, it was already disabled.

also if you have msn messenger plus installed with the sponsor program it will cause a lot of pop ups too. just go to the msgplus thing and uninstall the sponsor program, if you can't uninstall just the sponsor program, you'll have to uninstall msg plus and reinstall it without it.
