CPU Idling at 50%-100%, need some help

I have no way to back up anything, and I have a crap load of things that I need for school and such on here.

So really I have no chose, Should I just uninstall all the crap I really don't need?
I really can't reformat.

Well I would go to msconfig, and see how many startup items are listed.

wouldnt all those running programs have something to do with it? there are like 15 icons next to the clock.
