I currently use the Intel Core 2 Extreme (2.93) X6800 (specs)
sSpec Number:SL9S5
CPU Speed:2.93 GHz
PCG:05B
Bus Speed:1066 MHz
Bus/Core Ratio:10
L2 Cache Size:4 MB
L2 Cache Speed:2.93 GHz
Package Type:LGA 775
Manufacturing Technology:65 nm
Core Stepping:B2
CPUID String:06F5h
Thermal Design Power:75W
Thermal Specification:60.4°C
Core Voltage:0.850V-1.3525V
This processor runs at very low temps so the opportunity to overclock is fairly easy. I overclocked mine 15% with a Hyper6+ and it stays steady at 47C-49C at 100%load
And it blows the pants off anything it runs, All my benchmarks compared to my brothers Athlon 64 FX62 (Practically same system hardware) beats it by nearly 30-40% in everything it does. I think AMD is going to have to put some heads together to over-turn Core 2
