I've just got a new computer and it has room for two hard drives in there, so I want to hook up my old one as a secondary. But When I opened it up, I've only got the cords for one. Where can I get the cords I need to hook it up? How much would they cost? And what would they be called.

Also, would it be possible to install linux on my secondary harddrive after I get some of the files off of it And then have the choise as to which OS to use at bootup?

Well the wires are IDE, or SATA depending on your Hard drive. Also yes you can install linux on the other hard drive. The ide cable will cost you about ehh I duno 10$

Apparently I had looked wrong. Allow me to go through the whole story. I opened it up expecting to see cords for two hard drives, when I saw only one I made that post, then I looked again because I inteded to unplug my new one and plug in the old, when I discovered that the old and new have different plugs. Then I was looking around and found that there is a plug on the "Slave cable" that can connect to my old hd and that there was another lose plug that could connect, I connected both of these, with my new one still conected and when I booted it said that it couldn't boot properly due to a change. That's as far as I got.

did you switch your master and slave settings.....if bolth hard drives are connected you should have it set to cable select
