I'm considering purchasing a gaming monitor for my ps4 to take advantage. It seems it's either they are either 4K or 1440p plus the aforementioned features. I had the ViewSonic VX2363SMHL-W in the past and LOVED IT if I could I would buy it again but just want to know if there were any others that are better.
Can anyone please leave suggestions as I don't want to waste money.
Thanks in advance guys

That Viewsonic isn't particularly that great so the bar is set low lol. It all depends on budget and size you want, not only that but the market is super weird right now. We got TVs doing 4k 120hz with HDMI 2.1 that will support the new consoles but new 2020 monitors coming out lacking HDMI 2.1. So it really depends on a bunch of things. If you have a standard PS4, you don't have a Pro model, and don't intend on getting a PS5 or Xbox Series X then another 1080p 60hz screen would do you fine. You can find them for pennies on the dollar these days.

If you have a pro model and want to play in 4k or intend on getting a new console this holiday season I'd look at the HDMI 2.1 capable TVs instead of a gaming monitor. Just depends on what you want.

I wouldn't go the monitor route for consoles. I'd take a Full HD TV. A smart Full HD TV if I might use the smart features.

PS4 does not output over Full HD (1080p) nor it goes over 60 FPS in games. TV's have those even some really cheap ones and many of them proved long living too.

What I would do is make sure the TV I'm looking at does not have bad input lag and response time. This will reduce (prevent, depending on the eye) late video output and motion blur kinda effects on faster movement. Even 20 ms input lag might be unnoticeable to those who don't especially seek to find it.

For that I would consult TV specialists instead of a computer forum to get the best results, tho if there are skeptical gamers here they could help too. I suggest you consult Sony for good TV's for consoles.

Personally I go to show rooms with my laptop and connect it to TV's and test how good the mouse moves. I only look at numbers to seek a specific TV to test.

I use my PC on a 60" 1080p Sony smart TV since I game on 1080p 60 FPS and it's good enough.

I didn't go this route because of input lag and response times. No cheap TV can parallel a cheap gaming monitor in these.

It doesn't have too. It only has to be good enough. And there are so many that are.
Not really, considering most cheap TVs are in the 30ms (half a frame) and above range compared to monitors you can get in the 100 dollar area that are 1ms. The cheapest best 4k TV you can get has a response time of 13ms with a price tag of 699. It makes no sense to go that route when you can get a 1ms 240hz brand new HDR600 certified monitor for the same price that also supports VRR. Color accuracy and viewing angles will also be better on monitors of the same price bracket compared to TVs. In general TVs have always been terrible for games except for the old CRT TVs, and although companies like LG are pushing for more gaming oriented TVs they're usually hella expensive and it makes more economical sense to purchase a screen made for gaming aka a monitor. The only panels that are comparatively better are OLED which now we're looking at over 1200 bucks for a screen that will be capped at 120hz with the possibility of burn in.

I would say good enough would only come to play if you just simply desire the size, or don't play games that require a quick screen. I played FF7 remake on my projector and it was good enough. I won't play something like CoD or Rocket League on anything but a monitor though because they're not good enough for that kind of gaming.

Notice how I haven't mentioned the smart features or processing either. They add extra latency to the overall loop.

I don't have any idea about ViewSonic VX2363SMHL-W but i think AOC C27G1 and Dell S2719DGF are better than VX2363SMHL-W. Here the features and more details about these two gaming monitors https://shinyloot.com/best-monitors-for-console-gaming/.
Currently, I'm using the Dell S2719DGF for my Xbox gaming.
