Alright smart guys, here's one for you. I'm running Windows XP pro. I have a cable modem that just began experiencing connection issues. The ISP checked my connection to the network, good. Checked all LAN cables, good. Installed a new ethernet NIC and it has been recognized by the BIOS and is lit up and operational, good.

Installed the brand new NIC driver from the CD, good.

However, I still cant get an IP address to generate when I launch IE, still getting 0.0.0.0.0.

Is there a way to check to see if the DHCP process is actually running? The PC says it's enabled...but I still cant get a damn connection !!!!

thanks

go to network connections and find your connection and right click go to properties on the general tab you can click on click on the tcp/ip then hit properties. then a page will open that shows you to the ip address. You can always change it yourself. Or have windows configure it. Which is probably the easiest.

"Start" "Run" type cmd

from tehre type

ipconfig /all

see if it sees anything.
Next try

ipconfig /release
Ipconfig /renew
