Connecting to Internet via Cellphone

I have a laptop. I also have a cell phone.

The cellphone is of the lg variety, vx9800 and i have internet on it.

I heard somewhere that you can hook up your cellphone to ur laptop and get onto the internet.

I also have a USb cable that connects the cellphone to the laptop.

Is there a way to make my laptop access the internet by using my cellphon'es internet?

haha that's the same phone I have. Yes you can use the internet VIA bluetooth. Or with the USB cable. That phone has EVDO for 350kps internet connection, that is if you are in a EVDO area. plug it into your computer with the phone powerd off, the computer will recognize it as a modem. I'm not sure what you do from there since I never used it to connect to the internet from a laptop, I always had the internet on the phone using its built-in web browser.

So all i have to do is shut off my phone, then connect via usb.
