conexant hcf pci modem in xp

I'm trying to install windows xp on my pc and everything goes well until I want to use my modem.It goes through the whole connection thing but cannot actually establish a connection(although all info is correct and I can hear a dialling tone).Can anybody point me in the right direction please - is it just drivers(the modem shows up as working correctly and no driver is necessary) or is something more sinister at work!!!

i had the same problem using aol and compuserve. i think you should try updating your drivers, that worked for me... good luck and welcome to 1 of many xp problems!!

Run the Windows update, and it should help search for updated drivers, or head directly to the manufacturer's site. I believe Conexant only manufactures chips to be distributed on modem cards by other manufacturers.
