Negative. The test I mentioned will fix issues that arise that CAUSE the corrupted file in the first place. It can also detect media failures in the cases of cables, both PATA and SATA.

I'm fully aware of what DMI is.

That's why I said it.. just thought I'd mention it was neither..

it was a corrupted file.. just saying you did say it was bad mobo or dead HDD and I was saying it's not neither of those..

And if you new what DMI is then I'm not sure as to why you said that..

It was obvious what the problem was.
