Dear all,

I have a HP a6242n computer with Windows 7.
Recently, it shut down by itself. I replaced the CPU and case fans. It worked for a while and started shutting down by itself again. When it started, the HP logo appeared and just stayed there, nothing went on next. Some other times, the HP logo screen had many vertical lines on the monitor.

The next thing I would want to try is to replace the PSU or motherboard.

The computer is 4-5 years old, however, I still want to save it. Is there any idea of how to fix, please help. Thank you very much.

The lines would make me think video or graphix card, at that age might not hurt to change the RAM as well, I had a compaq laptop a few years ago and recently my son's Acer began doing this just before they fried i didn't bother fixing them just used what parts I could. Good luck

I think that one of the power cords from the PSU to the hard drive gets loose. I have touched it, and it has been fine so far. :)

Hopefully, it is the cause.
