Hi there, I am more less of a noob when it comes to computers... all I can do is put some basic stuff together... and that is about it... well I would like your help to make my computer a faster computer, I more or less use this computer for everything but mostly gameing... so here are the details on my computer...

Motherboard - Intel D845GRG - http://www.neoseeker.com/Hardware/Products/Intel_D845GRG/
http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/rg/
Ram - Two 512 DDR PC2100 (266MHz) (So overall 1GB of ram, i have noticed that the computer supports 2Gb of ram but i was not able to find 1GB ram sticks...)
Graphic Card - Geforce 4 mx440 128mb
Processor - P4 2.6GHz

Yea I know it sucks... but if any of you guys could give me a hand with making this PC faster, and I am also not willing to spend too much money... as I am still 18 and not making too much money...

If you would be kind enough to help me get some stuff together from
http://www.tigerdirect.com would be great...

I am mostly looking for a decent motherboard and a graphic card... also if someone could suggest a good sound card for my system would help...

Just keep in mind I can't spend too much on this...

Well to make it faster for gaming you'd need to upgrade your mobo to an S939 and put in some type of AMD Athlon 64. And a 6600GT or something like that'd also help.

Mobo:http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1539426&CatId=1569

CPU: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1366613

That equals around $350.00

A gfx Card: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1931185&Sku=P450-7834

would add another $170.00

Hope that helps.

Eh, nice build. Since the mobo has a 4x agp slot, try getting a better video card since it offers more performance.

thnx a lot that helped a lot...

also thnx to the other people who have replyed to try and help me out...

why tigerdirect? they are ok but i prefer newegg.com. since they both have about the same selection i'll just suggest a few parts.

the processor suggested above is fine but to save some money you could go with an opteron 144 and Overclock it.(they can go from stock 1.8 Ghz to 2.8 Ghz fairly easiely)
as for a mobo i would go with an ASRock Dual-SATA S939 as it has an AGP and PCIex16 slot, and is relatively cheap.

lol remember, when posting for help in designing a new rig we need three things 1)what you have now. 2) what you use it for. and 3) your price range("can't spend a lot" isn't quite detailed enough) you gave the first 2 so give us the third and we can give you the best bang for you buck.

umm i'd say if its avrage stuff than 200-300 should be the line... but if the stuff is top of the line sure iam willing to go ahead and save for it... some tell me the Dual-Core processer is the way to go... but if iam right thats the top of the line stuff.. i might be willing to go for it if someone could give me some suggestions would help also... just tell me what you guys would build for an good gaming comp... also i pick tigerdirect because iam not too far of it and shipping dosent rape me... newegg i have notthing bad to say for them as i have never tryed them.. well let me know if u need more details...

Ahahah... thats why newegg is not an option, your in canada. Sadly they don't ship there... a shame really...

By 200-300, i'm sure you are referring to canadian currency, right?

Well if you want to spend more money get some better RAM and if you really need it a Dual-Core CPU, AMD Athlon 64X2 3800 is the cheapest I think. I'd go for a 4000 or a 4400 if you can afford it.
