computer being really slow at startup

over the past few days I have noticed my computer getting slower when booting up, the little purple bar now goes around 27 times before anything else happens. other than that the computer runs ok. can someone help me fix this??

well one solution is to reinstall windows. if you have an xp cd, you can just reinstall woindows and keep all of your files. it always works for me.

Did you run adware programs, and do a virus check..

yep I ran kaspersky antivirus and adaware se both came up clean.

Do you have a lot of things starting up on start up? If so then go to run/msconfig/ and only boot the basics. See if that helps, if not maybe its a problem in the registry? You could download registry mechanic, and see if it helps..

no not too many things are starting up. plus it worked fine a few weeks ago with the exact same stuff starting up.
