I have Comcast and i just upgraded my TV , do they charge anything extra to get a better receiver so my picture isn't some squatre box?

you should be able to adjust your tv. Did you read your tv's owners manual?
you can upgrade your Comcast account to get HD tv channels if you do not have HD
