Chromebook won't boot from USB stick

Hello,

I created a bootable Windows 10 USB stick on my Chromebook using the Chromebook Recovery Utility. I created the iso files for it using the Microsoft Media Creation Tool downloaded from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-download/windows10 and followed this guide for creating the bootable USB: https://technastic.com/create-a-bootable-usb-on-chrome-os/.

Now, when I plug the USB stick into my Chromebook and power it up, it doesn't boot from the USB. It seems to completely ignore it. When I look at the contents of the stick on the Chromebook, I see this:



Can someone tell me if this looks wrong? If there's an extra step I need to do to get it to boot from the USB stick? Thanks.

I'm not entirely certain you can put Win 10 on a Chromebook but this may help with USB booting.

Additionally, I do not think that the windows installer will recognize a Google Chrome file system. You might have to format the drive to an NTFS drive. Another issue would be no native drivers for your hardware, so that in itself would also prevent the windows install

Thanks Pete, I'll have a read of that article and see what I can make of it.

I could be wrong about this but you may be able to back your Chromebook data from the USB to your Windows 10 OS if you install Linux on the Windows 10 OS. Windows 10 recognies the Windows creation tool ISO, but this Windows creation tool is for reinstalling a fresh copy of Windows 10. Or atleast thats what I thought.

But as Joe stated "You need to format the drive to NTFS and ["The lack of native drivers may cause compatibility issues on the Chromebook."] Therefore, you may either cause damage to the Chromebook or Chromebook will not recognise the USB.
