Knowing what your needs are first is important before exploring services.
1) What is your budget?
2) What features do you require? Many features that normally are perceived as a given are not universal to all VoIP services providers. These features include: voicemail, 911, call waiting, call forwarding, etc.
3) Will you need a portable phone router?
4) Technical support needs to be considered. Some VoIP service providers charge extra for support, while others do not. Be sure the VoIP service provider you choose has the necessary support you may need.
5) Will you be able to keep your current landline numbers? Some VoIP service providers can work with existing numbers.
