I feel like it has to be said that XBL and PS+ still cost you on an annual basis. Regardless of sales, you are still looking at $30 per year? And that price will never go away. "Endless upgrade cycle" isn't really so different from paying for multiplayer. So you are always chasing something, in most of our cases we would rather chase continual improvements than access fees.

Xbox Live for a year is 60 unless you do like I do and go to a site like g2a.com. Most console people also pay full price for each game as opposed to having Steam sales, cdkeys, G2A, and Origin OTH, or other various platforms to get cheap games. I know my roomie uses a site to buy new games for like half off but he's the only console person I know that does this. All the others get their **** for close to full price from Gamestop, or full price off Amazon, Walmart, Target, whatever.

Im not so sure these two things are equal, but I can respect that viewpoint.
