Charger help

Hi recently my laptop charger burnt out so I went out to buy a new one now its just plugged in not charging just keeping it at a constant power I mean the battery is fine I think it was charging just before the power cord fails on me can. Please have some help on whats wrong because I can take the charger back thank u

Might be the port on the laptop, which can be replaced if you're handy with soldering tools.

Thankfully I am but left my soldering iron back in England
