CD rewriter problems

I have a Plexwriter 40/12/40A CD-Rewriter. The problem I am having is the green light constantly flashes when closed and my PC will not start up until I open the CD-rewriter drawer. I cannot use my cd-rewriter as it has to stay open for the PC to function. The green light is constantly flashing when opened and closed. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can stop this because I am unable to use my CD-Rewriter?

I think you need a new CD-Rewriter drive I dont think that would be a problem worth fixing if you can purchase a new one for probably a much cheaper price. I do not understand why your pc would need the disc tray to be open for it to work.

DVD-writers are the newest thing, they start at $30.

put the cdrw on its own ide cable (channel) and set the jumpers to master. And make sure the hdd is on the primary channel (its own cable) blue slot on the board. And it is set to master as well.
