So far my friend has tried 3 different programs to burn a CD, (Sony CD-R) however every time a blank CD is inserted, the drive will not recognize it. When a CD with something on it already is inserted it will read it however. There are no error messages so I am not quite sure what exactly is going on. Anyone have any ideas? Helpful replies are greatly welcomed.

Is his burner cd+/-rw? or cd+r? If it is a cd+r, you will not be able to format any kind of cd that is a cd-r.

I agree with MEDABOMB2000 , also when you use the program does it recognize a CD bieng inserted? My drive doesn't always detect a blank under D:/ but the CD BURN program will and I can burn it from there. What program are you using and what CD drive type do you have?
