I need new fans. I'm using a few tri-cools with the stock CM and a single thermaltake one. I want high airflow with a low decibel rating.

i would get 120mm fans becuase they (somehow) move more air, but are quieter.

i suggest getting one of these on this page

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010110573%201372726538%201373026503&name=%3e80%20CFM

they move over 90 CFM (mostly) and are rated to be very quiet

these are incredible value one of the quietest and moves the most air for 4 dollars a piece

now these are top dollar and are the quietist of the bunch

A quiet 90 CFM fan isn't possible. Also, everyone knows Silenx rates their fans incorrectly. Put them on a heatsink/radiator and they perform even worse.

Yate Loons are a good value. If you go this route, go buy them from Petra's. They order direct from Yate Loon, whereas others go through a middle man and get knockoffs that use a 80MM motor instead of a 120MM motor.

Scythe S-Flex fans are also a good choice. Don't go over 1200 RPM if noise is a concern though.

For open-air case fans, Scythe Slipstreams are very good. However, they do not have very good static pressure, so things like fan grills, filters, heatsinks, etc. cut down their airflow a lot. Would only use in spots where airflow isn't obstructed.

44.5dB for fan is loud, very loud.

If you want something quiet, you really need to look for something 35dB or less.

This article is very useful. Although they don't test a huge variety of fans.
