cant find right movie edditor

ok when my web cam makes these video clips and saves them where ever i want them to go but it dont have a file extention but it playes in windows media player all it says is it has a file extention that is not known to the player or is unknown and it ask me if i want to play it and i select yes and it plays it but i cant find any movie edditor out there that will eddit it does anyone know a free video edditor that will eddit this file with no extention?

First of all. Whats the extension of the file?

there is none : / but then i renamed it too filename.wma then it went and looked like a windows media player file
