Can we edit with this COmputer??

I am wandering if we can do some editing for my sisters wedding....My dad is planning on buying an apple computer.

Does anyone know if this would be a good computer to edit? We would need to transfer DVD's to the computer. What else would be needed besides the computer to transfer over?

Should we buy a program such as Imovie sepererate that what may be available already? I would like to cuts, fades, have music overlayed, and some features that make the editing it look professional.....

well you could use any platform for editing, such as Windows Media Edition or Linux or Mac. the real question would be are you going to be using the computer mainly for editing purposes ? if so, i would go with a Mac for this, and if you miss the windows platform, you can use a program that lets you still use windows on a Mac computer.

If you want it to be profesional, go and buy final cut pro, amazing program...About a 1000, my dad has it on his g5, its great..
