Well, you're definitely going to want the Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz LGA 1366 Quad Core proc... I'm trying to find a combo deal with an X58 motherboard to save some money atm. Doesn't seem to be any worth taking, so I'm just looking for the best deal on an X58 mobo now.
No, and since you're using a Core i7, I recommend triple channel RAM, 6GB (2x 3GB) of 1600MHz triple-channel DDR3 RAM will be more than enough RAM for any gaming and photo/video editing.
Sorry I suck at gathering lists of links for people's builds, because I hate deciding brands for other people (people are picky ) So many people have their preferences, I'd be better off if you linked your "ideas" and I could comment on your choices
Idk I've never bought a pre-built. I've been tinkering with computers since I was 10 years old so I just don't trust other people to build them for me Also seems like a waste of money to me its so easy and fun (to me).
From my experience with HP though (my laptop) their customer service is... well, they get the job accomplished, but you really have to be patient with their customer support people, they direct you through people based in India and whatnot and they ask you the stupidest questions ever.
Also, I had to send in my laptop 3 times before they got the problem fixed.
