Can I write on the inner ring of a DVD?

As the title suggests, I'm wondering if I can mark sharpie onto the inner ring of a DVD. I recently came across a 2-pack of Mini-DVD-RAMs, and the discs are two-sided, so there's no actual 'label side' of the discs.

I ask, because it seems the inner ring is the only place to label it, as even the branding, disc side, and disc type are marked along the inner ring already. (See image)

Even though the given area is pretty small, it may be the only area I have, given the circumstances...

Inner ring as in the clear/frosted plastic that's inside of the white ring? Yes, you can write on that.
