okay I've set things up so that I can play a movie or whatever from my computer and the picture will appear on my TV upstairs. Now I need audio. So the question is: does my computer have the correct audio out for my surround sound system upstairs? I use onboard sound on my MSI K8N NEO 2 Plantinum nforce 3. And I am using my eVGA 6800 GT 256 mb video card for TV out. So does anyone know if this system has what I need? It's kind of hard for me to tell, because I am not sure what I need.

No matter what you should be able to get some audio out of the system. With onboard, you more than likely are only going to have 1 channel out, but you can buy an adapter to go from the small audio connector to the RCA one that goes into your TV.

Yep, you already have audio out... its called your onboard card. Just a matter of connecting it correctly to some speakers near your tv.

But, for the love of god... get a sound card.. even if its a cheap one.
