If you guys spot anything that might not work, please tell me. I do know that I don't have a soundcard here, but i haven't decided on one yet. Also, I will be running XP and Unix.

How much are they? I'm on a budget of 1500$ right now, And what I have is just under it. And would I have to change everything else? Or are they all still compatable?

Edit: Factor in a Nvidia with 512mb, that brings it to just above 1.5k

512? is that really necessary? Sure, you get the extra ram, but I don't think that will give you much of a performance edge over a 256. Also, is a soundcard really needed? I think the onboard sound of that asus mobo is pretty good.

a 6600GT will do fine for only like 170 or so

btw, go for the DFI lanparty board (way less problems) and a gig of ram instead of 512

Thanks a lot! With the combo newegg has on it, it saves me about 200 dollars!

edit: I'm looking at getting the
DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD

I think I'll go with the Venice still because I can get the venice for only 180 and the san diego is 450. How much better can the san diego be?

I sorta have a newbie question. Can I use DDR 625 (5000) Ram on the dfi lanparty?
