I am no noob to building system (have built a AMD skt 939 build then had a Core 2 E6600 build) but I have been out of the loop for a good bit (like a year).
I want to build a gaming rig that will play pretty much any game at med-high settings. At first I will be using a 19" sanyo lcd tv as my monitor but I will eventually be moving up to about a 37"
This is what I was thinking about:
Case:
Newegg.com - XCLIO Godspeed Two Advanced Fully Black Finish 0.5 mm SECC / ABS Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases
-Not the best looking case but all the fans should help everything stay a little bit cooler plus its not too expensive
PSU:
Hiper 480 watt
-I used this for my old rig (e6600, 8800gts, 3gb) but im not sure if it would work for this build, surely with the way computer parts have advancing they have made them more energy efficient??? maybe just my hopeful thinking but let me know
Motherboard:
Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards
-Nothing fancy as I will not be overclocking or doing any crazy SLI or Xfire setup
CPU:
Newegg.com - AMD Phenom II X3 720 2.8GHz 3 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 95W Triple-Core Black Processor - Processors - Desktops
-Cheap and from what I have read a good choice but let me know
Ram:
Newegg.com - OCZ Obsidian 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model OCZ3OB1600LV4GK - Desktop Memory
-I think 4gb should do me well
Video Card:
Newegg.com - HIS H489FP1G Radeon HD 4890 Turbo+ 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
-Going off the sticky in this forum I decided this should be good
HDD:
Newegg.com - Seagate Barracuda LP ST3500412AS 500GB 5900 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive -Bare Drive
-I have a 1.5tb external already so i should be set for space
DVD:
Newegg.com - Sony Optiarc Black 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA DVD/CD Rewritable Drive - CD / DVD Burners
-I was going to get a Blu Ray drive but im pretty sure ill just pick up a PS3 slim.
I will be using this rig for gaming (NFS Shift, CSS, WC3, Crysis, CODs, etc), and a media player. Let me know what you think.
