Before I leave for college in July I'm going to need to make a computer. I'm going to use it mostly for gaming, music, and internet.
What do you think is the best/cheapest place to buy parts from? I know newegg.com is good, and there's a place by me, General Nanosystems, that has decent prices too.
This is what I came up with so far using newegg.
Processor:
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Newcastle 800MHz FSB Socket 754
Motherbord:
MSI K8T NEO-FSR Socket 754 VIA K8T800 ATX AMD Motherboard
Memory:
Kingston ValueRAM 512MB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 400 (PC2 3200)
Hard Drive:
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 120GB 7200 RPM IDE Ultra ATA133
Video Card:
ATI Radeon 9600XT 128MB DDR AGP 4X/8X
With a $30 case I found on newegg and without drives or software it comes to $569.00. That's in my budget of keeping the thing under $700. Thats all without sales or digging in the refurbished section.
Do all those parts look like they'd come together to make a good system? Would you suggest something different/better? Thanks for your help.
