Building a computer.

I building a computer for a client, it doesn't work...
Help me out please

The comptuer does power on, but not how it should. The power button on the front doesn't work - the way to turn it off an on is a I/O button on the psu itself. Another weird thing is that it wont turn on if the 20 pin (20+4, but the 4 doesn't affect anything, I leave it plugged allt he way in) is plugged all the way in, only if it's three quarters in.. that doesn't make sence. The Power light does turn on though. The monitor doesn't turn on (Like the on board graphics are screwed up) The USB ports don't work.. nothing works but the fans.

What should I blame it on? Well, the case fan, that's plugged straight into the PSU, works! So.. psu works. However, the heatsink and fan, that's plugged into the mobo, works... Also, the lights in the front. that are connected to the mobo, works. But nothing else does?

I kept in mind that I couldn't plug in the cable all the way, if I did it wouldn't work. I requested an RMA, replacement, for the motherboard.

Then I thought about it, maybe the PSU isn't putting out enough power? But it's sort of silly, that should be more than enough

i would say u got a lemon mobo, for sure.

Good thing I have the RMA request for the motherboard already sent out. I want to figure out why the heatsink and fan + the case lights work though... Any suggestions anyone?

anyways.

You probably had a bad 20pin connection job on the board itself, like a faulty solder or something.

Hm, and you think that would cause the light and fan to work, but not everything else? I'm going to check again and see if the hdd works. That should work if the PSU works.

Yep, PSU isn't powering on the Hdd.

I guess I'll go ahead and put in an RMA for a new case as well.

This is making me so mad.

So I have two cases. The new one and the old one...

I have the PSUs mounted in each, I can't use the hold one for the new computer becuase it's only a 20 pin. So I plug the new one into the old Mobo and the IDE (old one, new is SSerial) and teh hard drive works... and the Mobo light comes on on the old mother board.

I have no idea. I guess I'm just going to rma the board at first and see where taht takes me.
