bootmgr is missing, recovering is not working

Whenever I turn on this acer aspire 5920 it says "bootmgr missing" so I booted off the windows dvd and tried to do a recovery, it finds the windows installation it says "windows 7 ultimate recovered" but it says location is unknown Whenever I continue and try to do a startup and repair it always fails. Any suggestions?

Go back to the options and select command prompt and then use the bootrec /fixboot command

i got what i was trying to do using a little different method. this thread can be closed
