on my brothers computer, sometimes during boot when the windows logo appears, it is kinda greyed out and his comp freezes, what should i do?

Bad days can do that to ya.

My day gave my inspiration, hell I literally would kick my computer if put in his position.

Start > run > msconfig > startup tab > take out any 3rd party programs. Anything that isn't core OS.

That should lighten the load, and make it bootable.

That or you have bad ram... but if you can get it booted, try that. Because you said ''sometimes'' so keep trying to get it booted.

done a defrag, it doesnt' boot up unless i turn off at power then when it starts i have to select how to boot and i choose last working configuration and it works but it just crashes on the xp logo and im not sure why

Are you sure the moniter signal isnt just lost when it boots sometimes... you know maybe a loose cable or something?
