Hi, on one of my computers my boot hard drive failed, which contains the boot info. My vista install is on the second drive (D:\). I dont want to have to reinstall vista, so how do I recreated a boot.ini and tell windows to boot from drive working drive. Thanks :) I presume im going to have to find my vista cd... somewhere

the boot sector is on the failed drive.

When you dual boot the XP and Vista Vista overwrites the boot sector but leaves it on the original drive which in this case is the failed XP drive.

@OP, repair install of Vista? It's been a while since I played with Vista but I presume the repair install carried over from XP. That should allow you to rewrite the BCD (Vistas version of the boot sector) without losing any data

Yes, you'll need your Vista CD.
