I have win xp pro service pack 2.

I wanted to make a Boot Disk for my system and I know they say win xp is way to big you can only make system Disks for it.

And it taks like 8. CDs.

So I tryed something and I wanted to see if anyone can tell me what I made because it works?

I hand Copyed

NTL.DR
DIRECT.com I think is the name I may have miss speld it
io.sys
auto.exec.bat
config.sys
boot.ini

All these files from my Root DIR and put them on a Floopy disk.

When I restart my system I put the disk in the Floppy drive and it boots from it because I set it to.

I can here it ticking and ticking and I know it is reading the disk.

Then it boots right to desktop.

Did I make a boot disk for my system?

I think I did or am I just thinking I did

You're just thinking you did. The disk is just bieng checked for boot data, but it fails so it just relays back to it's normal boot process, the hdd.

Why do you want a boot disk? What is the expected outcome? Do you know what a boot disk is?

OK if my system ever can't boot up because of bad system Files or something you can use a boot disk to get into the computer or desktop to use win to fix things.

In win 98 we had boot disks what did they do???
