I hear that black cd's are more tolerant to scratching and what not. I'm planning to re-catalogue my mp3 collection upon the arrival of my mp3 changer for my car.

Has anybody seen black/silver cd's rated higher than 24X?

Any truth to the claim that black cd's are more tolerant to scratches?

Hi EarlThePearl and welcome to Tech Forums.

The highest ive seen black cdrs are 20X but there might be higher ones i dont now.

And yes i think they are more tolerant to scratches. Ive only ever used them for console games.

Cheers

yup they are more tolerant to scratches .... ive used em they are gr8.. reliable..

well...i just threw in a black memorex cd that has never seen a case, been in my computer cabinet for a long time on the bottom of a stack of old cd's, in the right light you can see it scratched all the heck...and it's playin' in my cd-rom as i type this.....it's only 16x though...and now it's coming out because the music on it plain ol' sucks ass.
